BBC Radio presenter Gemma Cairney has revealed she is expecting her second child.
The broadcaster, 41, announced the news on Instagram, posting a sun-soaked snap of herself relaxing on a sofa as she cradled her her growing baby bump.
Captioning the image, she wrote: “Together we sunbathe ‘n dream.”
Cairney, who welcomed her first child in August 2024, is set to become a mother of two with partner Cameron McAllister, whom she met in Malawi, where he runs an independent coffee project sourcing beans from smallholder farmers.
Friends and fans quickly flooded the comments with messages of support, with one writing: “Gorgeous! Congratulations beauty.”
Another added: “Such a precious time, love how you have captured it here. So much love and rest to you.”
Fellow Radio 1 alum Fearne Cotton shared her congratulations, posting a string of heart emojis beneath the announcement, while Dawn O'Porter added: “I want to kiss that belly so bad.” Lauren Laverne also responded with a series of heart-eye emojis.
Cairney has largely kept this pregnancy out of the spotlight so far, in contrast to her first, when she shared more frequent updates with followers.
Announcing the birth of her first child last year, she paid tribute to those who supported her through the experience.
“I can’t offer enough thanks to our friends, kin, midwives, soothsayers, staunch support,” she wrote at the time.
“Never ever felt love like this. We are a fresh fam of three.”
Cairney has long been praised for her distinctive broadcasting style, often blending music, culture and social issues in her work.
She began her career at Kiss FM and Channel 4 Radio before joining the BBC, where she rose to prominence on Radio 1Xtra in 2008. That same year, she co-hosted Big Brother’s Big Ears alongside Iain Lee, a companion show to the hit reality series.
She has since hosted coverage from Glastonbury and fronted her own weekday afternoon show in 2011.
Born in Birmingham and now based in Scotland, she has also made radio documentaries, launched a successful production company and recently released her debut book, The Immortal Sisterhood, marking a new chapter beyond broadcasting.
