Radio 2 legend Bob Harris shares positive prostate cancer update

  • Veteran BBC Radio 2 presenter Bob Harris, 80, has announced that his prostate cancer treatment is getting back under control following a reassuring update from his oncologist.
  • First diagnosed with prostate cancer 19 years ago, the broadcaster faced setbacks earlier this year when the disease spread to his spine, prompting an intensive course of intravenous radiotherapy.
  • The health development previously forced Harris to step down from hosting his long-running Radio 2 shows, Radio 2 Country and Sounds of the 70s, after a career spanning almost six decades.
  • Industry colleagues and fellow presenters, including Dermot O'Leary, Sarah Millican, and Trevor Nelson, sent warm messages of support following the hopeful update.
  • Following the positive news, Harris celebrated with a boys' weekend in Oxfordshire alongside his sons Dylan and Ben, while encouraging others dealing with difficult personal struggles to never give in.
