Residents in Radcliffe-on-Trent say the village is 'not as bad as other places’ for speeding despite police reports of concerns. Nottinghamshire police shared that they have been conducting speed checks and overnight patrols in three areas in Rushcliffe to combat speeding and anti-social behaviour.
In response to the Nottinghamshire Police Rushcliffe team's tweet about the patrols, locals highlighted Wilford Road and Main Road in Radcliffe-on-Trent as problem spots. However, some residents in the area said they haven’t noticed the speeding issues and say ‘it’s not as bad as other places’.
David Bunce told Nottinghamshire Live that you occasionally see people racing but it’s not that bad. The 56-year-old said: “It is now and again - people racing. More often up Shelford Road. It’s not a pandemic of youths driving at night. Down there’s a speed camera, you’ve got zebra crossings. It’s not as bad as other places.”

Another resident, Jade Faber, 27, said that she wasn’t aware about the speeding issues. She said: “We have a zebra crossing and sometimes they go fast around the roundabout. It’s sometimes fast but that’s the same as anywhere. I didn’t know that there was a problem.”
Rosa Keen, added that the Main Road gets a lot of traffic. The 75-year-old said: “Unless it’s late at night. What is a problem is going up Cropwell Road parking on both sides causes a lot of nuisance.
“I shop a lot in the day and I can’t say unless it is bad at night. I would say this gets a lot of traffic .”
In a Twitter post, Nottinghamshire Police's Rushcliffe team said: "West Bridgford response and neighbourhood policing teams continue overnight patrols around West Bridgford, Gamston and Edwalton areas due to recent reports of speeding/ anti-social behaviour. This evening further speed checks have been conducted A52 between Ruddington/ Edwalton."
Locals replied to the force's tweet praising their efforts. They highlighted Wilford Road and Main Road in Radcliffe-on-Trent as problem spots.
