Rachel Riley has taken to social media to share a thinly-veiled swipe at former Countdown host Anne Robinson after the latter announced her departure from the show.
The Countdown maths whizz took to Instagram posing at home with a glass of wine and a caption saying that she was raising a toast to "the next chapter in Countdown's history".
Anne Robinson announced that she was leaving the show after just one year, explaining that she had chosen to leave the show over a pay dispute.
However, Rachel's apparent swipe at her former co-host of the show comes after Anne said that her co-stars were "noisy" and that she "wouldn't go on holiday with them".
Nonetheless, Anne dismissed claims of a feud between the pair after she left the show.
The presenter had been employed on a freelance basis, and said that although she was offered a pay rise she did not want to join Channel 4's payroll so decided to step away from the show.
She told the Sun: "I come from a long line of alcoholic, Irish bandits so to suggest I go PAYE is a bit like asking Philip Green or Richard Branson to join the company payroll.
"I wasn't interested in any offer on that basis. Even if it included financial parity. I will, however, miss out on the Channel 4 luncheon vouchers, which is a big regret."
Although Anne dismissed claims of a feud between herself and Rachel Riley, she acknowledged that she had become frustrated with her colleagues' noisiness and timekeeping in an interview with Emma Barnett on BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour.
She said: "They're both brilliant at what they do. I mean they really, really are. Channel 4 are incredibly lucky to have them. And there isn't a rift.
"It was me wanting everyone to be quiet in the studio. I like everyone turning up on time and quiet, quiet, quiet. So we did have to iron that out. But that's it."
Claims of a feud come as fellow host lexicographer Susie Dent took to Twitter to wish Anne all the best for the future, posting: "Wishing Anne all the very best in her new adventures with her grandchildren and beyond."
But former host Nick Hewer was not impressed, replying: "Well that's a sure fire certainty for Private Eye's OBN [Order of the Brown Nose] award. Bravo Susie!"
One insider on the show said : "Everyone is so relieved, to be honest. It's all been a bit of a disaster with the fallouts and squabbles, we just want to draw a line under it and move on."
Channel 4 is now looking for someone to replace Anne as host of the long-running quiz show.
Rumours are now circulating that former star of the programme Carol Vorderman is high on the list of potential choices to host the programme.
Other potential candidates include Pointless star Richard Osman and poker ace Victoria Coren-Mitchell.
