Race to rescue nearly 50 beached whales after mysterious mass stranding: ‘We’ve never seen anything like this’

Volunteers are working frantically to save 45 pilot whales – with more than 50 having already died in a mysterious mass stranding on an Australian beach.

Nearly 100 long-finned pilot whales stranded themselves Tuesday on the beach by the city of Albany, on the southern tip of Western Australia, south of Perth.
