On BBC One's Race Across The World Tricia and Cathie, who is from Bridgend, have been praised for their strong friendship and their connection proved once again in the latest episode when Tricia received some bad news from home. The pair are competing against three other teams and racing across Canada when Tricia received a health update from her husband, Matt.
Viewers of the April 19 installment saw that Matt had undergone a kidney transplant and Tricia received the news that the kidney transplant had failed and Matt would need to go on dialysis. Becoming emotional when she heard the news, Tricia had to decide if she was going to carry on or go home.
Comforting her pal, Cathie assured Tricia they could go home if she wanted to. Cathie said: "You've got to do what feels right for you, if you need to go home, then we go home."

Tricia decided to stay in the show as Matt told her to carry on despite what might happen to him. She said: "He did say to me 'go get that win...I want to carry on. I want to get to the end for us and for him" speaking about the dialysis said: "Hopefully that keeps him alive" as she wiped away her tears.
When Tricia became emotional again thinking about Matt, Cathie told the cameras: "It is horrendous to see her going through this, every second she is worrying about Matt which is completely understandable...all I can do is be there for her and to support her."
Later the pair visited a church and Tricia reminisced about the last time she was in one, with Matt, and felt confident he wanted them to carry on as best they can in the challenge.
Ultimately Cathie and Tricia reached the fifth checkpoint in third place, narrowly missing out on coming second after they cleaned ice hockey changing rooms to raise more money for the race.
The pair are starring in the third series of the show which sees five pairs, a mixture of couples, father and daughter duos and best friends, race each other to different destinations in Canada in a bid to win £20,000 - a challenge made all the more difficult by each pair's limited budget and programme rules which forbid the use of mobile phones or any set plans or pre-booked travel tickets.
