Rabbits, Bangkok United let opponents off the hook

tight affair: Bangkok United's Pokklaw A-Nan (right) vies with Nakhon Ratchasima's Amadou Quattara during a Thai League 1 match.

Defending champions BG Pathum United and Bangkok United both had frustrating outings in Thai League 1 on Saturday night as their bids for the title once again suffered heavy blows.

Pathum failed to beat 10-man Police Tero and settled for a 1-1 draw while Bangkok United squandered a two-goal advantage for a 2-2 tie with Nakhon Ratchasima.

Police defenders did an impeccable job until the 80th minute when they lost Chumpol Buangarm to a red card and soon buckled under pressure to let Chartree Chimtalay put the Rabbits ahead.

Chalermsak Aukkee headed home the equaliser for Police in injury time.

In the other game, Pokklaw A-Nan was quick to give Bangkok United the lead in the third minute.

Heberty Fernandes then set up Rungrat Poomjanthuek with a nifty pass for the Angels' second goal after 20 minutes.

Amadou Ouattara reduced the deficit to 2-1 with a sizzling strike on 60 minutes.

Kwame Karikari kept his cool to convert a penalty in the 77th minute as the Swat Cats continued their fightback to even the score at 2-2.

The spot kick was awarded after Bangkok United defender Peerapat Notechaiya committed a handball inside the box.

Ratchaburi dented Chiangmai United's hopes of miraculously dodging the drop by inflicting a 2-1 defeat on the home team.

Steeven Langil put the Dragons ahead a few minutes after the kick-off and the visitors held the lead until the break.

Chiangmai levelled through a Saharat Kanyaroj goal at the hour mark only to see Derley grab the winner 10 minutes later.
