Rabbi Matondo to Rangers transfer confirmed as Ibrox club continue signing flurry

Welsh international Rabbi Matondo is Rangers' fourth summer signing after his move from Bundesliga club Schalke was confirmed by the Light Blues.

The 21-year-old winger didn't travel to the German side's pre-season camp in Austria as held talks over a move to the Premiership club. A product of the Manchester City academy, Matondo moved abroad in 2019 and has had two loan spells with Stoke City and Cercle Brugge in that time. A reported fee of around £11.5 million took him to Germany from England over three years ago.

Now in the final year of his contract, a fee of around £1.8 million is what Rangers are reported to have signed Matondo for and he joins John Souttar, Antonio Colak and Tom Lawrence as summer recruits in Govan. His contract is for the long-term and helps bolster the attack after losing versatile forward Joe Aribo to Southampton last week.
