Rabbi Matondo in Rangers 'WATP' declaration as star nails social media colours to the mast early on

New signing Rabbi Matondo has quickly made himself a Rangers fan favourite with his social media antics - and he's nailed his colours to the mast by adding 'WATP' to his Twitter bio.

Welsh wing wizard Matondo signed from Schalke on Tuesday in a £2.5million deal that sees him swap the Bundesliga for the Scottish Premiership. A one-time £11m signing from Manchester City, his career had fallen by the wayside in recent seasons, but he arrives at Ibrox off the back of a ten-goal stint with Cercle Brugge in Belgium.

At 21 he's already played for four different clubs but insists he's finally found somewhere he can settle for the long-term at Ibrox, and he certainly feels at home judging by the swathes of social media posts celebrating the move. But eagle-eyed fans quickly spotted one detail that suggests he's getting right into the spirit of things, updating his Twitter bio to include #WATP.

The Wales winger also included the popular Rangers fan slogan in several tweets and Instagram posts - as well as updating his story no less than 30 times to reflect his transfer to Ibrox. And speaking after moving, he insists the move Gio van Bronckhorst 's team "just felt right."

He said: “I feel like I took a good step last season in Belgium. But I felt like whatever step I took next, it had to be the right one. It had to feel right.

“I just feel like everything about the club feels right. Speaking to Ross and the gaffer and my family as well, we all know how massive Rangers is, and the interest they had in me from the get-go, I really appreciated it. I’m grateful for it and now I just want to give back everything they’ve given to me so far. So, yeah, I just feel like it’s the right step to come to a massive club like Rangers.

“Obviously we talked a lot about football, how they see me fitting in at Rangers and how they’ve been looking at me and scouting me. So there have been some very good conversations and they made me even more excited to pull the Rangers top on.

“It’s not every day you sign for a manager the size of Giovanni. So I’m grateful that he’s had an interest in me and he thinks I’ll fit his team and his style of play.”
