NEW DELHI: Ace India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin surprised the cricketing world with his retirement from international cricket on the final day of the third Test against Australia in Brisbane. Two days later, Ashwin took to social media to respond to an outpouring of messages from teammates, fans, and well-wishers, combining gratitude with his signature wit.
The announcement on Wednesday left the cricket fraternity stunned. Ashwin, 37, broke the news during the post-match press conference alongside skipper Rohit Sharma. "I won't take too much of your time. Today will be the last day for me as an India cricketer," Ashwin said before leaving the room without taking questions.
