Some behaviours in other people barely attract our attention. Others can trigger an emotional response that seems far greater than the situation warrants. Psychiatrist Carl Jung believed those moments of intense irritation were worth examining, because they can reveal something about ourselves.
"Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves," Jung wrote. The quote encourages us to look beyond immediate blame and consider whether our strongest reactions may be connected to hidden fears, insecurities, unresolved conflicts or patterns from our own past.
