Quiz of the week: 30 bone-chilling horror movie questions

The nights might be getting lighter but for many of us our hearts and minds stay in the dark, black, fear-ridden world of horror. Films, that is, this a light-hearted quiz of course, not an exploration of Rob Zombie's basement or a stocktake at Dario Argento's horror memorabilia store, and what better way to test your expertise this weekend than with some scare-based questions?

The horror genre is one of the oldest in movie history, with the first horror on film recorded way back in the 1890s, long before The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari was even a lightbulb above Robert Wiene's head. We've put together a list of XX questions on your favourite genre that might have you hiding behind the settee or having a scary movie night - the questions will come first and then the answers below. No cheat-scrolling, or contacting a higher being to help you out, they'll only want repaying.

If this is a little too scary for you, you could try our other quizzes which include general knowledge quizzes, or this Wales-themed quiz. We also have a Star Wars quiz if you want to stick with films , find that here.
