Currently, one of the main sources of unrest among U.S. citizens is the government shutdown and Trump’s tariffs, both of which have led to an economic setback.
On October 1, 2025, the government shutdown was driven by disagreements between Republicans and Democrats over a funding bill. While Republicans were clear about their demands for the “Big beautiful bill,” Democrats were unwilling to pass it as it was, because it lacked essential Medicare and Medicaid reforms needed by Americans, especially those without economic privilege.
