A charming cottage near Edinburgh has hit the market with some quirky features that could see it having a place in a classic fairytale.

The two-bedroom property in Midlothian is described as being "deceptively spacious", with its sweet exterior actually containing two living areas, a well sized kitchen, conservatory, and gorgeous garden.

Currently on the market with Neilsons, the outside of the property is an eye-catching candy pink, with each room's decor keeping the countryside feel.

Fitted with plush red velvet furniture in the living area, the room also has bare stone walls painted a bright white, as well as the original fireplaces.

Speaking about the property, Neilsons said: "Neilsons are excited to bring to the market this charming, deceptively spacious extended detached cottage with substantial mature garden to rear providing a delightful, secluded haven with summerhouse and pond. Quietly situated within a picturesque conservation village, the property enjoys a pleasant semi-rural setting yet is convenient for access to the village of Pathhead where amenities serving every day needs are on hand with commuting links providing easy access to major road access points including the A68, A1 and City Bypass.

"The enchanting accommodation which would now benefit from modernisation/upgrading, offers superb potential to create a fine home in an idyllic setting and shall undoubtedly appeal to a wide range of buyers and merits internal viewing to be fully appreciated. In brief the accommodation comprises entrance porch and hall which in turn leads to a sizeable sitting room with central feature fireplace and is enhanced by exposed beams.
