'Quickly' - Former Leeds United man issues Brenden Aaronson transfer warning

Leeds United should go out and sign Brenden Aaronson from Red Bull Salzburg as 'quickly as possible' amid reported transfer interest this month.

That is the view of former goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, who believes that the Whites must strengthen in the January transfer window and admitted that Aaronson would be an astute addition.

Having seen an initial £15m bid rejected earlier in the week, Leeds have now come in with an improved £20m offer and it's safe to say they remain keen on bringing him to Elland Road.

Aaronson would be the Whites' first signing of the window and there has been plenty of speculation around whether they need to add another midfielder, with the USA international their top target.

The 21-year-old also supposedly wants to make the switch to the Premier League and Kenny believes that he will benefit the Leeds squad with his talent and promise.

"Bielsa is very set in his ways with things like this," Kenny told Football Insider.

"It might not have happened straight away but Bielsa has clearly signed off on this and it should now happen soon.

"The club have probably been waiting for him to give the ok for a bid to go in.

"Leeds have needed to strengthen and I think Bielsa has always said he will only sign players he thinks will benefit the first team.

"They still have a lot of players out so anyone coming in this month is a boost for them. He’s clearly talented and you have to trust Bielsa when it comes to his methods in the transfer market.

"The key is to get him signed as quickly as possible now."

Aaronson still has over three years left on his current contract which could make a move complicated and hard to come by, although Leeds are still persisting with their interest.

It's easy to see why the Whites want to sign Aaronson, though, given his record since he joined the club from Philadelphia Union back in January.

The former Bethlehem Steel playmaker has scored 10 goals and grabbed 12 assists in 51 appearances in all competitions and his form has attracted interest from sides across Europe.
