Apple has entered a major leadership transition. John Ternus becomes the company's chief executive on 1 September 2026, replacing Tim Cook after 15 years at the helm.
The change is significant. Ternus becomes only the eighth CEO in Apple's history and the second person to lead the company since co-founder Steve Jobs died in 2011. Unlike Cook, whose career was rooted largely in operations, Ternus has spent most of his professional life focused on hardware and product engineering.
