Quick breakfast Dr Michael Mosley recommends that can help you lose weight

Dr Michael Mosley has shared a quick and simple breakfast he recommends to help people lose weight. The weight loss expert explained on his website starting your day with eggs, which are high in protein, Vitamin B and selenium, can be an effective way to shed the pounds.

He said that whipping up a mushroom omelette is one of his own 'go-to breakfasts'. "Boiled, poached, scrambled or as an omelette - they'll keep you feeling fuller for longer compared to cereal or toast," he wrote, as reported by Coventry Live.

The health expert added that because eggs are high in protein, various vitamins, they won't rise your cholesterol levels - if cooked up with something sensible. Dr Mosley adds onions and mushrooms to his omelettes, with the former high in probiotics, which feed the good bacteria in our gut. Mushrooms are high in Vitamin D. Spinach, garlic, turmeric and chilli flakes can also be added for extra flavour.

However, meat at breakfast should be a treat and Dr Mosley warned that people watching their weight should be careful about which meats they eat. Bacon is a processed meat, which Dr Mosley advises should be eaten "sparingly" and "in small quantities".

Salmon is a decent substitute, he said, while fibrous greens, parmesan and a sprinkle of chilli can help make healthy breakfasts even better. Breakfast pastries should also be avoided. They are often high-carb, high-calorie and low protein, while breakfast cereals are "laden in sugar".

In an article for the Daily Mail, the TV doctor and author previously said: "When you get up in the morning, you may be in a rush to tuck into your breakfast and get out of the door. Or you may be happy to hold off eating for a while (a lot of people find they don't get hungry until later in the day). One reason why you might want to delay breakfast if you're not ravenous is that, by doing so, you will be extending your overnight fast (i.e. how long it has been since your last meal)."

Dr Michael Mosley has become one of the UK's most trusted faces of sustainable weight loss. After releasing multiple books on the topic such as Fast 800 Keto, many hoping to drop down a few dress sizes will be following the expert's advice.
