A Queensland police sergeant has been shot by a colleague during a live-fire exercise at Childers, in regional Queensland.
The male sergeant, an instructor, was shot in the calf by another officer at about 10am on Thursday, in what police referred to as an "accidental discharge by another officer".
He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was in a stable condition as of early Thursday evening.
A statement from Queensland police said support was being provided to both officers involved in the incident, as well as their colleagues and families.
A police investigation is underway and Workplace Health and Safety Queensland were advised of the incident.
The Queensland Police Union said it is providing support to the two officers and their families.
