A woman woke up to discover she was being raped by a man she only knew because their parents were dating, a court has heard.
The 23-year-old woman opted to stay the night at a Morayfield address north of Brisbane after it hosted a party in October 2021.
After an afternoon of drinking, the group made sleeping arrangements and the woman ended up crashing in a bed with the man she knew because her father was dating his mother.
However, she woke up later to find her bra and shirt around her neck and the 30-year-old man sucking on her breast.
She pushed him away and told him to stop before falling back to sleep.
The woman was again awoken, this time discovering her pants and underwear around her ankles and the man's fingers in her vagina.
"What the f*** are you doing? Stop it or I am telling Dad," she told the man, Brisbane District Court heard.
She fell asleep again but was awoken a third time when the man was moving her shorts and underwear to the side and attempting to insert his penis.
The woman pushed him away and told him not to touch her.
"Perhaps unsurprisingly she remained awake for the rest of the night," the crown prosecutor said.
When later interviewed by police the man made some admissions but believed it was consensual.
"It beggars belief that he would arrive at that," the prosecutor said.
No victim impact statement was provided but the prosecutor said the "escalation of offending" had had a "profound effect" on the woman.
His defence said the man's explanation for his "out-of-character" offending was that he was heavily intoxicated.
The court heard the man is receiving a disability benefit for epilepsy, suffers ADHD and depression, and lives with his mother and young son.
His defence said the son had not been told his father may go to jail.
"It is felt by the family that it is best that he not know so the son will be told he has gone away for work for a period of time," the defence barrister said.
The man pleaded guilty to one count each of rape, attempted rape and sexual assault.
Judge Jennifer Rosengren sentenced him to three years in jail.
He will be eligible for parole in nine months.
