Cardiff is celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in style as a whole host of events take place across the city. From the Big Jubilee Picnic in Bute Park to a military music festival there is plenty going on in the Welsh capital over the long weekend.

Big Jubilee Picnic in Bute Park
Taking place on Sunday, June, 5 is the Big Jubilee Picnic in Bute Park. You can pack up a picnic, grab your family and friends, and head to Cardiff's beautiful Bute Park where there will be a giant screen showing the Platinum Jubilee Pageant live from London.
If you don't fancy watching the pageant there will also be free music and walkabout entertainment including giant flamingos and a wandering opera. There will be no food or drink on sale at Bute Park so make sure to bring your own picnic.

Military Music Festival
Cardiff Bay will be alive with the sounds of the Regimental Band and Corps of Drums of the Royal Welsh on Thursday, June, 2. A Royal Gun Salute in Roald Dahl Plass will signal the start of Jubilee celebrations followed by an hour of military music from the Regimental Band and Corps of Drums of the Royal Welsh.
The Regimental Band and Corps of Drums of the Royal Welsh is one of the very few all-brass bands within the British Army and you may have seen the band performing at the Principality Stadium for the rugby.

Beacon Lighting Ceremony
2,000 beacons are being lit simultaneously across the UK to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee including one at Cardiff Bay. The lighting of the beacon will take place on Thursday, June, 2 from 9.15pm to 9.45pm outside the Pierhead Building in Cardiff Bay. After the beacon is lit there will be a short firework display.

Jubilee Concert at Cardiff Castle
Hosting one of the biggest parties in Cardiff for the Jubilee is Cardiff Castle with the Jubilee Concert. There will be Welsh talent performing on stage, including Aled Jones, Mike Peters, Bonnie Tyler and John Owen Jones.
Adult day tickets are priced at £32.50 and children under the age of 16 can attend for free with every full paying adult. Additional under 16s are £12.50. Under 4s are free. Capacity is limited. Find out more here.
