Queen's Park set for Hampden Park return for first time since March 2020

QUEEN'S PARK are set to return to Hampden Park for the first time since March 2020 this coming December.

The Spiders have been playing at Stenhousemuir's Ochilview Park with Lesser Hampden currently under construction.

Owen Coyle's team will host Hamilton Academical on Saturday December 3 in a cinch Championship meeting and will then play an SPFL Trust Trophy tie against Montrose seven days later. Both games will kick off at 3pm.

The return to the national stadium will give Queen’s Park supporters the chance to cheer on the team in a ‘home game’ for the first time since March 2020 after stints at The Falkirk Stadium, Partick Thistle’s Firhill and Ochilview.

The club are looking to move into their new home at Lesser Hampden in early 2023 and view these two games as an opportunity to strengthen its links with supporters.

Club president David Hunter said: “The return to The National Stadium will give Queen’s Park supporters the chance to cheer on the team in a south Glasgow venue for the first time since March 2020.

“A further update on our move to Lesser Hampden will be made as soon as possible and whilst there is still much work to do, our intention is to have that facility operational in January.”

A club statement added: "The club would like to place on record our thanks to the SPFL and the Scottish FA for their support with these arrangements."
