Queen's 'missing handbag' was found by Harry Potter - and Voldermort was blamed

When Queen Elizabeth's handbag went missing - she had to get some help from a magical friend. Harry Potter was on hand to help Her Majesty be reunited with her bag after fears it had been stolen by the evil Lord Voldermort.

Thankfully there wasn't a serious security issue at Buckingham Palace, as it was in fact a fun skit to celebrate the Queen's 80th birthday back in 2006. The three-minute short film, which was recorded during filming of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, was produced for Children's Party at the Palace and starred Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson.

The hilarious segment starts with an unknown owl delivering a strange letter to the Gryffindor Common Room at Hogwarts.

Harry, who is joined by close pals Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, discovgers that the note has not been sent from the Minister for Magic - but actually the Muggle Prime Minister.

It reports: "A terrible crime has befallen the country as Her Majesty the Queen's handbag has been stolen".

Ron jokes Voldemort, the sinsiter villain from the franchise, is "getting really inventive", but Harry admits he can't really see the Dark Lord with such an accessory.

The letter stresses the urgency of retrieving the handbag as it contains the Queen's reading glasses which she needs in order to read her speech at her 80th birthday celebrations.

Harry suggests using the potion Veritaserum to make the thieves confess, then does a Summoning Charm to conjure up the lost handbag.

While they're searching through a mountain of bags, Neville Longbottom arrives and spots his gran's handbag, leading Ron to question if she is the Queen.

Hermione says none of the bags is the Queen's because they are too far away from Buckingham Palace for the charm to work, so Harry sends Hedwig with the letter to the palace.

The young magicians are able to provide the Queen with a temporary transference of magical power so she can do the spell herself and retreive her hanndbag.

The Harry Potter cast were actually invited to the event and were sat in front of the Queen and Prince Philip.

Matthew Lewis, who played Neville in the film series, posted a sweet snap with the royal couple behind him and Rupert Grint after she passed away.

In the caption, he wrote: "This was as close as I ever got to Her Majesty. I, along with a few of the old gang, were invited to sit with her at the palace while we watched a little film we made for her 80th birthday.

"I think she liked it. Quite an honour for a northern monkey sporting a black eye, let me tell you. The second image is a picture hanging in my office because I'm a weirdo."

While admitting he isn't the biggest royal fan, Matthew said Her Majesty was an "intangible sense of stability" and revealed he put a photo of the late monarch up in his

He added: "I can't think of much else to say, nor why I even felt compelled to say anything at all but I guess, after a lifetime of service to her country, I hope that she may now rest in peace. GSTK."
