Queen's little-known link to The Parent Trap - and she even attended the premiere

Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II this week, royal fans have been sharing sweet stories and memories of the monarch as they pay their respects. And one tale told about the Queen has left many movie buffs rather shocked, as they didn't have a clue about it.

It turns out Her Majesty has a little-known link to the popular Disney film, The Parent Trap, which was released in 1998. A deleted scene from the Lindsay Lohan movie has given people a thrill as it shows Hallie, pretending to be Annie, and her butler Martin driving up towards Buckingham Palace on their way home from the airport.

For the latest updates as the world mourns the Queen and King Charles III's reign begins, follow our live blog.

As it's her first time in London, Hallie is understandably excited to see the iconic landmark and begs Martin to let her get out and take a look.

The youngster hops out of the car and begins to try and get the attention of a royal guard, switching between her British and American accent.

However, she ends up like a deer caught in the headlights when she encounters The Queen (played by British actress Jeanette Charles) heading into Buckingham Palace and the pair have an amusing chat.

While it wasn't the actual Queen in the movie, it seems highly likely that the monarch could have been offered the chance to play herself at the time and we could certainly imagine her having fun with the role - especially as in recent years she's had fun with sketches for James Bond and Paddington Bear.

While she wasn't in the movie and the Queen scene ended up getting cut from the final edit, Her Majesty and Prince Philip were invited to attend the London Premiere and they both did, meeting the cast and crew there.

Photos show Natasha Richardson looking beautiful and curtsying upon meeting the Queen, with Dennis Quaid standing beside her.

Both seem to have enjoyed a nice chat with the Queen at the special event.

The deleted scene has since gone viral on TikTok after it was shared by @2000spophits, with many people admitting they didn't know it existed. Others were outraged that the scene was cut and some mistakenly thought it was the real Queen in the clip.

"Why would they cut this scene," asked one user.

Another said: "Omg whaattt."

A third replied: "I've watched this film many times, I've never seen this scene."

"You telling me she went to the premiere and they cut her scene," posted someone else.

While a fifth added: "People don't really think this is the actual queen do they..."
