Queen's Jubilee: No uniform for Prince Harry after being stripped of titles

Prince Harry appeared at Buckingham Palace in a dark suit during the Queen's Jubilee celebrations today after being stripped of his military titles when he stepped down as working royal.

It means while working royals the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge and the Princess Royal were in ceremonial military gear at Trooping the Colour, Harry was in civilian clothing.

The war veteran previously held the honorary titles of Honorary Air Commandant of RAF Honington in Suffolk and Commodore-in-Chief, Small Ships and Diving, Royal Naval Command.

He also held the role of Captain-General of the Royal Marines, which was handed down to him by Prince Philip.

Also appearing during celebrations today, the Duchess of Sussex was pictured with younger royals including Savannah Phillips and Mia Tindall as she watched Horse Guards Parade from a balcony.

Meghan beamed in a wide-brimmed cream hat as she was pictured giving a playful shush to the daughters of Zara and Mike Tindall.

The couple flew to the UK from their home in California with their children Archie and Lilibet earlier this week having quit as working members of the royal family back in January 2020.

The Queen is yet to meet their daughter, who was named after her, with the couple leaving their children in the US on the few occasions they have returned to the country.

On Saturday, the monarch will reportedly meet Lilibet for the first time on her first birthday. Their son Archie has not been in the UK since he was six months old.

Taking part in the Jubilee celebrations today, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's children Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4, enjoyed their first carriage procession.

They also watched the parade from the Major General's Office overlooking Horse Guards.

While Harry and Meghan were not included in the carriage procession, they watched from the same office as other royals.

They are also expected to attend a service of thanksgiving at St Paul's tomorrow.

This afternoon it was announced that Prince Andrew would not be attending the service after testing positive for Covid.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: "After undertaking a routine test the duke has tested positive for Covid and with regret will no longer be attending tomorrow's service."
