Queen's iconic reactions to Jubilee horse show - Alan Titchmarsh shrug and proud remark

The Queen was the guest of honour at a star-studded horse show to kick off her Jubilee celebrations, and viewers couldn't get enough of her incredible facial expressions throughout.

She attended A Gallop Through History - a spectacular show that featured acting and musical performances alongside horse displays as the Royal Windsor Horse Show 2022 came to a close.

The event was broadcast on ITV and during the performance, the camera panned to the Queen sitting in the Royal Box with a blanket covering her knees.

She seemed to love almost every moment of the impressive show, laughing, pointing and clapping throughout - however there were some parts she seemed less keen on...

In one heartfelt moment during the show, TV presenter and national treasure Alan Titchmarsh paid tribute to the Queen and her incredible 70-year reign.

He said: "For over 70 years, there has been a constant heartbeat in this nation. And that heart belongs to Her Majesty the Queen."

His comment prompted the 4,000-strong crowd at the show to erupt into a cheers and applause.

However, some viewers cracked up at the Queen's reaction to his comment as seconds after the presenter made it, she was seen giving a nonchalant shrug.

Another moment that also left viewers in stitches came right at the beginning of the show during Dame Helen Mirren's portrayal of Queen Elizabeth I.

Dame Helen was one of a host of celebrities taking part in the first official Jubilee celebration event.

The actress, who won an Oscar for her portrayal of the Queen in the film of the same name, took on the role of Queen Elizabeth I and gave a rousing monologue.

However during the piece, the camera panned to the guest of honour, who sat in the royal box, and many viewers believed she didn't look too impressed.

One wrote on Twitter: "Not amused: judging by the Queen’s expression after seeing Helen Mirren’s depiction of Elizabeth I."

Another added: "She looked almost offended at Helen Mirren!"

Queen's reaction to awkward joke

As well as having tributes paid to her for her long reign, the Queen also found herself being teased for missing the State Opening of Parliament last week.

She was forced to pull out at the last minute due to mobility issues, but reportedly watched the state event TV from the comfort of her Windsor Castle home.

Closing the horse show last night, which included 1,300 performers and 500 horses, comedian Omid Djalili said: "Thank you to the Great British public who have shown up tonight, in the back there, wearing comfortable shoes and light rain-wear."

He then went on to thank the guest of honour, but his comment raised a few eyebrows.

He said: "Your Royal Highness, on behalf of everyone here we would like to thank you, very humbly, for picking us over the State Opening of Parliament.

"You did the right thing, and I won £5 in a bet with my local kebab shop owner in Ipswich."

His joke was met with applause from the audience, and thankfully when the camera panned to the Queen it showed she'd also enjoyed the comment.

She was seen giving a very subtle smile before raising her arm in the air.

Queen's emotional response to Lady Louise Windsor

Along with the show having many jolly moments, there was also one particularly poignant segment that the Queen's youngest granddaughter took part in.

Lady Louise Windsor led a tribute to the Queen's late beloved husband Prince Philip and his love of carriage driving.

Louise entered the arena driving a carriage that used to belong to her late grandfather, who taught her the sport.

And when the camera cut to the Queen, she appeared appeared emotional at the fitting tribute.

Queen's proud reaction to spotting on of her own horses

Another moment that viewers picked up on straight away was the Queen's adorable reaction to seeing one of her own horses.

One of the processions of the magnificent animals included one of Her Majesty's riding ponies.

And as the camera pointed at the monarch, she could be proudly telling the people sitting next to her "that's mine".

One person wrote on Twitter: "The Queen pointing to her 26 year old riding pony at the end of many processions of gorgeous horses, saying “that’s mine” with a smile is truly every horse girl."

Knowing last night's event was being broadcast on ITV, it's no surprise that the Queen wanted to look her best.

For the show, she looked radiant in in a blue dress with a sparkly shawl and her trusted black leather shoes and handbag.

And at one point, she was even caught reapplying her pink lipstick - seeming without even using a mirror.
