Also, as a mark of respect following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II St Helens Borough Council’s Cabinet meeting on Wednesday has been cancelled.

The council says urgent decisions that were expected to be made at that meeting, including the acceptance of funds from the National Drug Strategy and contract awards for a new financial system as well as road and transport projects, will all be approved by the local authority's leader in line with the council’s constitution as delegated decisions.

All other decisions will be deferred to the next Cabinet meeting which takes place on Wednesday, October 5.
