Queen's funeral: Final route of coffin from London to Windsor revealed

The details of the Queen's final route of her coffin leaving London to Windsor have been revealed.

On Monday, thousands of people will say goodbye to Queen Elizabeth II as she is laid to rest with her beloved husband Prince Phillip at the state funeral.

The King and senior royals including his sons the Prince of Wales and Duke of Sussex, as well as Princess Royal, Duke of York, will again march behind his mother as she is moved from Westminster Hall to Westminster Abbey.

Around 2,000 world leaders will attend the service after which a two minute silence will be held.

The national anthem will then be played to signal the closing of the service.

Buckingham Palace announced there would be a team of nearly 100 Royal Navy sailors set to carry Her Majesty's coffin to Westminster Abbey.

After the funeral, the King and members of the royal family will walk behind the Queen’s coffin to Wellington Arch before it is driven to Windsor on the state hearse.

The Queen will then be transferred to Windsor Castle where the late monarch will be laid to rest alongside Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, in King George VI's chapel.

Her Majesty's coffin will take one final route before she is laid to rest alongside her beloved husband Prince Phillip in King George VI's chapel.

The Queen's coffin will travel by ceremonial procession along a detailed route through London and then Windsor before she is laid to rest.

The late monarch's lying in state will come to an end on Monday morning before her coffin is transported to Westminster Abbey for the State Funeral Service.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said the route to Windsor has been planned with the public in mind.

The coffin will go from Wellington arch to Windsor via:

Apsley Way
South Carriage Drive
Queens Gate
Cromwell Road
Talgarth Road (via Hammersmith Flyover)
Great West Road (A4)
Great South West Road (A30)
London Road (A30) (via under Chiswick Flyover)
Staines Road (A30)
Windsor Road (A308)
Albert Road (A308) to Shaw Farm Gate

A committal service will take place at St George's Chapel, Windsor, Castle at 4pm on Monday.

At 7.30pm the Queen will be buried in King George VI's chapel in Windsor Castle in a private service.

The chapel is also the resting place of the Queen's father, King George VI, the Queen's mother and sister, Princess Margaret.
