Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor, the daughter of Prince Edward and Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, will reportedly pay a touching tribute to her late grandfather Prince Philip as part of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The 18-year-old, who has previously been described as the Queen's "favourite" grandchild, is expected to drive the Duke of Edinburgh's carriage during the Royal Windsor Horse Show.
Philip, who died in April 2021, taught Lady Louise how to drive carriages, having acquired the skill himself in the 1970s. The final night of the horse show will be televised live on ITV a week today and it is understood that the Queen is determined to see her beloved granddaughter honour her husband in such a manner, despite the 96-year-old monarch's mobility issues.
Lady Louise is 16th in line to the throne and has one brother James, Viscount Severn, who, according to a source for the Sun, is not far behind his elder sibling in the Queen's affections. The Royal insider said: "The Queen loves the fact that Louise and James relish their time at Balmoral, and she has become particularly close to Louise, who seems to have become her favourite grandchild, closely followed by James."
