A Queen’s Award-winning insurance provider in Devon has been acquired by a Somerset financial services firm for an undisclosed sum.
Totnes-based Naturesave Policies has a particular focus on environmental issues and ethical practice, providing services such as renewable energy insurance to individuals, businesses and charities.
Since it was founded in 1993 by managing director Matthew Criddle, the company has donated more than £1m to its own registered charity, the Naturesave Trust, which funds environmental projects across the UK.
The business was awarded The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development in 2011 and its green credentials have also been recognised by ethical company research site The Good Shopping Guide.
Naturesave has now been bought by Taunton firm Lloyd and Whyte, a group of firms across divisions offering financial planning and specialist insurance services to clients including healthcare professionals.
Lloyd and Whyte is part of the Gloucestershire-based Benefact Group – a charity owned, international family of financial services companies that give all available profits to charitable causes.
Naturesave’s shareholders were advised by law firm Foot Antsey on the sale to Lloyd and Whyte.
Foot Antsey associate James Crotty said: “We were able to achieve a successful result that worked for all parties involved. It was fascinating to work closely with a company with such fantastic green credentials in line with the founder’s vision.”
