Special guests were invited to the YTL Bristol Arena today (May 23) to watch a special set from Queen + Adam Lambert.
The band played iconic hits such as Bohemian Rhapsody and We Will Rock You to the Arena’s first ever live audience. There was a red carpet outside the Hangars as a selected audience - including Mayor Marvin Rees - was invited inside the Arena to mark a “key milestone” in its progress.
Around 100 people drove down the Concorde runway to access it. Queen + Adam Lambert have been rehearsing at the Hangars for their upcoming Rhapsody tour - which kicks off this week in Belfast. Their set at the venue - which is on track to open in 2024 - was the finale of their dress rehearsal for their tour.

Dressed in full costume, the band and their frontman played an incredible gig of all their best known hits. The band said they would have been “delighted” to play the Arena in full had it been open.
CEO of YTL Arena Bristol, Andrew Billingham, said: “It has been a privilege to host Queen + Adam Lambert as they chose Bristol to complete full production rehearsals in a five-day residency at the Brabazon Hangars. We are honoured that Brian, Roger and Adam wanted to play their part in our story.
“Over the past week we have accommodated one of the largest touring productions with ease. With 40 artic lorries parking on site and more than 200 production crew in attendance, everybody has said what a fantastic venue the new Arena will be and predicts it will become one of the busiest.”
