Queen pulls out of royal garden party season as Buckingham Palace confirms she'll miss events

The Queen will miss the royal garden party season and be represented by other members of the royal family, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.

Up to three parties are held every summer at the Palace and Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, but haven't been held in the last two years due to Covid.

Today, it was shared that the parties would be returning this summer after a two-year hiatus but that The Queen, who has been struggling with mobility issues, would not be in attendance, as reported by The Mirror.

Instead, other members of the royal family will take her place and represent her at events.

A spokesman said: "Her Majesty the Queen will be represented by other members of the royal family at this year's garden parties, with details on attendance to be confirmed in due course."

The parties are due to take place at Buckingham Palace on May 11, May 18 and May 25. The one at the Palace of Holyroodhouse will take place on June 25.

They will celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and those invited are guests who have been deemed to have made a positive contribution to their communities.
