Queen may never get to meet Lilibet amid Harry and Meghan's security row, says expert

There's a "big possibility" the Queen may never get to meet her great-granddaughter Lilibet, according to a royal expert.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's seven-month-old daughter was born in California in June and her parents have yet to bring her to the UK.

Since moving to the US, Meghan and two-year-old Archie have not returned at all, and Harry has only been back twice.

And at the weekend, Harry revealed the reason why he's yet to bring his family to his homeland.

He claims his private security arrangements are not enough to ensure his family’s safety and privacy here. He and Meghan are no longer entitled to police protection.

Harry now wants to pay for specialist police protection, but the Home Office has ruled this out – and he has applied for a judicial review against the decision.

If the row can't be solved, Harry might choose not to bring his young children to the UK.

And with the Queen no longer flying long-haul, royal expert Phil Dampier told The Sun it's "a big possibility she is never going to meet her granddaughter Lilibet and has only ever met Archie once or twice".

He also added: "Getting his protection reinstated would set a precedent and so it gives them the perfect opportunity to say we can’t come to Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

"Harry might come over but it gives Meghan a good excuse not to come and also not to bring the children."

Meanwhile, another royal expert previously claimed the Queen finds it difficult that she has been unable to see Harry and Meghan’s children.

Speaking in the Channel 5 documentary 2021: The Queen’s Terrible Year, royal expert Camilla Tominey says it has been hard for the Queen to be so far away from her two great-grandchildren.

She said: "I'm sure the Queen was absolutely delighted to hear the news that the Sussexes were expecting a second child."

She continued: "But it is difficult for the Queen. She has not been able to see Archie.

"I think the last time she was able to see Archie in the flesh was November 2019.

"The only way the Queen will be able to see these children is if they come over to the UK.

"Maybe she will see them next year when she marks her Platinum Jubilee. We have to wait and see."
