Queen 'finally meets Lilibet' within 48 hours of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle arriving

The Queen finally got to meet her great-granddaughter and namesake Lilibet within 48 hours of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle touching down in the UK, according to reports.

It's understood the long awaited family reunion finally took place after the Sussexes returned to Britain for the Platinum Jubilee weekend.

The Daily Mail reports the heartwarming meeting took place at Windsor Castle in the 48 hours after Harry and Meghan arrived back in the UK via private jet on Wednesday

Despite this there has not yet been any official confirmation.

The Queen had also not seen the couple's other child, Archie, since 2019 when he was only a few months old.

Tomorrow marks Lilibet’s first birthday and it coincides with a previously planned trip to the Epsom Derby for the Queen.

However, the Queen pulled out of the going to the famous horse races due to ongoing mobility issues, instead sending Princess Anne in her place.

It is believed that she will make time to see her grandson Harry and his children again.

Lilibet was named in tribute to the Queen, whose childhood nickname was Lilibet.

There was some controversy over her name at the time, with the BBC reporting that the Sussexes had not asked for permission to use the name before they did so.

This comes after months of speculation about what sort of role Prince Harry and Meghan would play in the jubilee weekend.

Reports prior to the four day weekend suggested they would keep a low profile throughout the celebration, and had had their Netflix cameras barred from following them.

They were spotted with other royals as they held hands and joined the Royal Family for a service of thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral.

It took places on the second day of the jubilee weekend and marked the first time the couple were back in public alongside the rest of the Firm since they quit the monarchy two years ago.

This all comes as earlier today Meghan Markle ’s hairdresser and close friend spilled the beans on the Sussesxs’s children, Archie and Lilibet.

George Northwood called Archie the “cutest, well mannered boy” and their baby girl Lilibet “beautiful”.

Mr Northwood recently jetted out to the Netherlands to do Meghan’s hair while she attended the Invictus Games with husband Harry.

He shared a post on Instagram today with several images of the Duchess.

In the caption, he wrote: “So nostalgic and wonderful to be reunited Harry, Meghan and their family in the UK. Archie has grown to be the cutest, well mannered little boy and Lilibet is just beautiful.”
