Queen cancels virtual engagements due to 'mild' Covid symptoms

The Queen cancelled her engagements today due to Covid-19 symptoms, Buckingham Palace confirmed.

Queen Elizabeth, 95, tested positive for the virus on Sunday, but planned to continue working virtually, and had online engagements planned today.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: “As Her Majesty is still experiencing mild cold-like symptoms she has decided not to undertake her planned virtual engagements today, but will continue with light duties.”

Press Association understands the Palace and the Queen will make a decision about further engagements over the coming week will be decided on nearer the time.

The Queen, who celebrated 70 years on the throne on February 6, continued working on Monday, and offered her condolences to the Brazilian president after flooding and mudslides in the South American country.

It is believed she is triple vaccinated and had been on doctors' orders to rest until recently, after a night in hospital in October last year.
