Queen Camilla has reportedly told workaholic King Charles to take it easy following his recent health scare.
The King has been staying at Sandringham Estate ahead of an operation on his enlarged prostate this week.
Buckingham Palace announced the news about the King’s health last Wednesday just 90 minutes after Kensington Palace said the Princess of Wales was having abdominal surgery.
Kate is not expected to carry out official engagements until after Easter.
An insider told the Sun: “The Queen has told him he needs to slow down a bit.”
Sources close to the King also told the newspaper he “likes to be busy” and is “raring to go”. They added that he has been reading his government Red Boxes.
A royal source added: “His work ethic is well known and not a surprise to anyone.”
The King immediately scrapped engagements after he was diagnosed with the enlarged prostate last Wednesday.
He made his diagnosis public to encourage more men to check for symptoms.
Camilla reassured well-wishers that her husband was “fine” as she carried out an engagement in Swindon.
The Queen visited Deacon & Son, a 175-year-old family-run jewellery shop on Monday.
A group of schoolchildren waving Union flags handed her get well soon cards.
On Sunday Charles’ former sister-in-law, Sarah, Duchess of York was confirmed to have been diagnosed with skin cancer.
Sarah Ferguson has described her shock at her diagnosis but said she is in“good spirits” and “grateful for the many messages of love and support”.
