Queen Camilla's ex-husband to attend Coronation after Princess Anne 'romance'

The ex-husband of Camilla, Queen Consort, is said to be attending the Coronation next month which will see her and King Charles III crowned at Westminster Abbey.

Andrew Parker-Bowles, who was married to Camilla from 1972 to 1995, is still said to be close with his ex-wife who he shares two children with - food critic Tom Parker Bowles born in 1974 and art curator Laura Lopes.

The royal ceremony, which takes place on May 6, will see Andrew's grandchildren playing an important role by carrying the train of Camilla's robes - but his attendance may spell awkwardness for Princess Anne as the pair reportedly once had a brief romance, the Mirror reports.

Friends of the 83-year-old said he is "a bit of a rogue", according to a source who spoke to The Times.

But after his reported 'romance' with Anne, Princess Royal, it's said that the two of them remain good friends.

According to the newspaper, a friend of the Parker Bowles family said of Andrew and Camilla: "They are joined at the hip. He arranges so much for her. They have lunch together the whole time. He’s right in there. He was always, and still is, Camilla’s co-conspirator."

Camilla's close friend the Marchioness of Lansdowne, said: "Everybody loves Andrew. He’s a real charmer but he’s always terribly misbehaving.

"Andrew will ring her up and tell her when she’s got something wrong and she’ll ring him up and say when he’s misbehaving. Through adversity, they’ve kept a really good family ethic. It helps with their children and grandchildren.”

Charles and Andrew's relationship goes back several decades and they even played polo on the same team.

The retired army officer is well used to major royal events involving Charles and he was present at both of his weddings. Charles married Princess Diana in a ceremony watched by millions around the world.

He was even present at Charles and Camilla's wedding at a private ceremony at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, in 2005.

In 1953, the teenager was involved in the coronation of the late Queen as a page.

He told the Daily Mail: "My mother was a good friend of the Duke of Norfolk. The Lord Chancellor had no children, so Bernard Norfolk suggested me to Lord Simonds. I have to say that he was the nicest man alive and gave me a very nice set of cufflinks."

Recalling a sword fight that broke out in rehearsal, Andrew said: "All of the pages had these little swords. If a group of bored small boys all have swords, you know what’s going to happen."
