Quarter final draw for Viaplay Cup confirmed after Kilmarnock win over Celtic

The draw for the quarter-finals of the Viaplay Cup has been made.

The teams were drawn out of the hat almost immediately after Kilmarnock vs Celtic this afternoon in Ayrshire.

Derek McInnes' side won that game 1-0 as Killie knocked out the holders at Rugby Park. Marley Watkins scored the all-important goal as Brendan Rodgers' quest for another treble ended.

Rangers sealed their progression to the next knockout round of the competition with a 2-1 win over Morton.

The Championship side took the lead in that game, with Grant Gillespie scoring from the spot. Michael Beale's side got a spot kick of their own, which Cyriel Dessers dispatched before fellow new boy Danilo scored to secure passage to the next stage.

Aberdeen got the ball rolling for the round of 16 on Friday night with a 2-1 win of their own over Stirling Albion. Bojan Miovski and Leighton Clarkson were on the scoresheet.

St Mirren defeated fellow Premiership opposition in the shape of Motherwell. Caolan Boyd-Munce scored a beauty to seal that tie.

While Ross County and Livingston progressed after victories over lower league sides Airdrieonians and Ayr United respectively.

As well as Killie against Celtic, Hearts defeated Partick Thistle with ease as Frankie McAvoy's men ran out 4-0 winners. New boy Odel Offiah, Lawrence Shankland, and Kagawa were all on the scoresheet. Brian Graham also turned the ball into his own net.

Across the capital city, Hibs also booked their slot in the last eight but were made to work a bit more for the result against Raith Rovers. Elie Youan opened the scoring in the second half before Callum Smith's leveller. New striker Dylan Vente eventually scored the winner after Liam Dick's sending off.

Draw in full:

Kilmarnock vs Hearts

Rangers vs Livingston

Ross County vs Aberdeen

Hibernian vs St Mirren

The matches for the last eight of the competition will be played next month on the midweek of September 26-28.
