A woman is set to face court charged with being an accessory to murder after a driver was fatally shot in the head on Queensland's Darling Downs.

Thor Morgan was driving on Ruthven Street in Harlaxton, Toowoomba, just before 3am on March 15 when a shot was fired from a stolen dual-cab ute.

Mr Morgan was found a short time later at a Coonan Street address with a gunshot wound to his head.

He was transferred to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane in a critical condition. Mr Morgan died at the hospital two months later.

A 24-year-old woman from Nobby, south of Toowoomba, will face court on Thursday charged with being an accessory after the fact of murder.

She is the second person to face charges over the fatal shooting after detectives charged a 24-year-old Cambooya man with murder on Monday.

Police do not believe the alleged shooter acted alone and have not ruled out further charges as investigations continue.
