Queensland has recorded another eight COVID-19 deaths and 4327 new cases amid state government concerns over a new virus variant.
There are currently 250 in hospital with the virus including 16 in intensive care.
The new infections emerged after 6723 tests across Queensland in the 24 hours to 6.30am on Friday.
Queensland's hospital numbers are falling after peaking in late January, prompting Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk to claim the state is "coming off" its Omicron wave.
However, health authorities are monitoring what is believed to be a more contagious Omicron sub-variant - BA2 - which has spread in NSW.
"We've got national cabinet on this afternoon. I look forward to hearing an update about the new strain," Ms Palaszczuk said.
"I plan to have some discussions with the chief health officer prior to national cabinet and if there is any developments of course we will let Queenslanders know over the weekend or early next week."
Ms Palaszczuk said the COVID-19 threat should not be underestimated despite the state's declining numbers, urging eligible Queenslanders to get a third shot ahead of winter.
"COVID is out there, we know that," she said.
"Can I just say this to Queenslanders, we really need you to get your booster.
"If you have not had your booster, please think about getting your booster.
"This is going to be an added layer of protection especially as we go into the winter season."
The state's COVID-19 vaccine rollout is continuing with 93.07 per cent of eligible Queenslanders having had one dose and 91.16 per cent receiving two.
