Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says it was a mistake to take her partner to an "informal catch-up" following former Australian Olympic Committee president John Coates' farewell in Sydney.

Ms Palaszczuk on Tuesday said she should not have invited her boyfriend Dr Reza Adib when Olympic officials in town for the event met on Sunday morning.
