The State of Origin decider in Brisbane has got off to a brutal start with Queensland winger Selwyn Cobbo leaving the field inside three minutes.
Cobbo lay sprawled on the turf after he and several Maroons were involved in a tackle on NSW centre Matt Burton.
As he was shielded by a teammate, both teams came together before Maroons medical staff attended to the youngster.
Despite calls for a stretcher, Cobbo got to his feet despite wearing a neck brace before being taken from the field.
The incident came moments after NSW back-rower Cameron Murray was also taken from the field after staggering out of a tackle following a head clash with Maroons' winger Corey Oates.
Murray was taken from the field to be assessed for a head injury, before being ruled out for concussion.
Shortly after play resumed following Cobbo's injury, Queensland forward Lindsay Collins was escorted off the field for a head injury assessment.
NSW are seeking to become just the third Blues team to win a decider in Brisbane in Origin history.
