An accused Queensland drug trafficker wanted by police over a vicious crime spree has been arrested by NSW Police after allegedly carjacking a man and crashing into a parked car in Sydney.

It's alleged Mitchell James Wilson was involved in three violent altercations around Brisbane's north and south last month, including a "life or death" struggle for a firearm, and a house being set alight and destroyed.

Several people known to Wilson were caught up in the incidents, but no one was physically injured.

"I consider this man armed, dangerous, irrational but particularly unpredictable," Queensland Police Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham said last month.

Just before 8pm on Friday, a 38-year-old man was sitting in his car when Wilson allegedly entered the vehicle and threatened him with a firearm at Dulwich Hill in Sydney's inner west.

The man was allegedly told to drive a short distance before the two got into an altercation in Campsie.

The 38-year-old then left the vehicle and called police.

He was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Wilson allegedly continued to drive the car before crashing into a parked vehicle in Earlwood then being arrested after a short foot chase with police.

He was charged with kidnapping, robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon, possessing a loaded firearm in public and possessing an unauthorised firearm.

Wilson was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court on Saturday.

Detectives from Queensland will work to have Wilson extradited after his criminal proceedings conclude in NSW, Det Supt Massingham said.
