Entering Sunday, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had thrown for 10,949 yards which was the fifth-most in team history.
Heading into Friday, he needed just 92 yards to pass Jay Fiedler (11,040) for the fourth-most as a Dolphin. Tagovailoa passed him with a seven-yard completion to running back Jeff Wilson Jr. in the second quarter against the New York Jets.
Fiedler accomplished the feat in 62 games with Miami from 2000-04, and Tagovailoa did so in just his 47th appearance.
Ahead of Tagovailoa now are Ryan Tannehill (20,434), Bob Griese (25,092) and Dan Marino (61,361). It will be some time before we see the current quarterback reach even Tannehill.
