The main Kremlin party enlarged its majority with a record 355 seats in parliament, Russian election officials said Monday, after a carefully orchestrated ballot that excluded most opposition candidates helped the government maintain its tight grip on power. The election was the first since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Russian President Vladimir Putin's United Russia party won a record number of 355 seats in Russia's 450-seat Duma, the lower house of parliament, according to preliminary results released by electoral chief Ella Pamfilova on Monday.
