Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in the capital of Uzbekistan on Sunday for talks with President Shavkay Mirziyoyev aimed at strengthening the countries' relations. The visit marks Putin's third foreign trip since his inauguration for a fifth term in May.
Upon his arrival, Putin paid his respects by laying a wreath at a monument commemorating Uzbekistan's independence in Tashkent. He then engaged in informal discussions with Mirziyoyev before their scheduled formal meeting on Monday.
During his previous trips, Putin visited China and Belarus. In China, he expressed gratitude for China's efforts to facilitate talks to resolve the Ukraine conflict. In Belarus, Russia's deployment of tactical nuclear weapons was a key topic of discussion.
Prior to his visit to Uzbekistan, Putin and Mirziyoyev held discussions on various aspects of bilateral cooperation, with a particular focus on trade and economic relations, as confirmed by the Kremlin.
