Russia has destroyed a Ukrainian military site six miles from the Polish border - just one day after Putin warned Western officials that convoys transporting NATO weapons would be legitimate targets.

Forces hit Yavoriv military base, which sits near the border of NATO member Poland, with 30 cruise missiles at 5.45am yesterday.

The attack is a terrifying step change bringing the West closer to a military conflict with Moscow, according to the Mirror.
