Russia’s Vladimir Putin and Ukraine’s Volodomyr Zelensky on Sunday held separate calls with US President Donald Trump as the latter prepared to celebrate his 80th birthday. The leaders discussed the war in Ukraine and their perceptions on how the more then four-year conflict could be ended.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky each spoke by phone with US President Donald Trump on Sunday, as Trump marked his 80th birthday and the war in Ukraine remained a flashpoint ahead of this week’s G7 summit.
