Puppy needed emergency treatment after eating 1kg bag of Mini Eggs

A puppy needed emergency treatment after eating a massive 1kg bag of Mini Eggs. Labrador cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Charlie, was discovered by her owners with a chewed empty packet.

She had managed to jump over a stairgate and get her paws on the chocolate - scoffing the lot. It made the poorly pup seriously unwell, vomiting five times at home and continuing to be sick on the short car journey to the vets.

Clare Sparks, vet at the PDSA Pet Hospital in Bournemouth where Charlie was taken, said: “We were suspicious that there could be even more chocolate left in Charlie’s stomach, so we gave her an injection to make her sick to empty her stomach completely, and she brought up lots more chocolate vomit. Chocolate contains a substance called theobromine, which is perfectly safe for humans, but toxic for dogs, cats and rabbits.
