Punjab: Woman accuses husband’s accomplice of raping her

LUDHIANA: A 32-year-old woman has accused a man for raping her in a house in January 2018. The woman had lodged a complaint with the police and the Punjab State Human Rights Commission (PSHRC). The Ludhiana police on Friday lodged an FIR after almost four-year enquiry.

In her statement to police the woman said her divorce case was pending in the court. On January 18, 2018, her lawyer called her and said her husband wanted to compromise with her. They fixed a meeting for this at a house. She reached the house where her husband, her lawyer and their seven accomplices were present.

The woman alleged that the accused gave her soft drink laced with sedatives following which she became unconscious. When she came to senses, she found that one of her husband’s accomplices was raping her. She added that her husband and lawyer was videographing it.

Thereafter he lodged a complaint and an inquiry was marked. ASI Subhash Chand stated that the inquiry was conducted, after which a case had been lodged against eight accused.

(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
