Punjab: Two booked for alleged illegal sand mining in Behlolpur

LUDHIANA: The Machhiwara police booked two unidentified people for alleged illegal sand mining after they recovered a machine and a sand loaded tipper in Behlolpur village in Punjab.

Police said that ASI Pramod Kumar provided information to the mining department about the illegal sand mining in the area.

According to sources, there was a poclain machine in the area along with a tipper loaded with sand.

Cops said that after receiving the information, junior engineer of mining department Rajwinder singh reached the spot and found the tipper bearing number HP31C-7400 loaded with red soil and a machine besides the excavated sand on the spot.

They added that the owner and the driver of the vehicle and machine managed to flee from the spot and they are yet to be arrested.

The AAP MLA from Samrala, Jagtar Singh Diyalpura said that they had been getting complaints about the illegal sand mining in the area so they went to the spot after which action was taken into the matter.
